One of the most interesting advertisements that I have seen in the recent times is the Asian Paints advertisement for red paints. Red colour is associated with anger and blood, but, the advertisement is able to change that perception and conveys a pleasing affect. The background music and voice by Shubha Mudgal, singing 'Laal, laal..', is strong and blends with overall message of the advertisement. Very well crafted advertisement.

Design Observer: writings about design & culture: India Switches Brands: "India is a country where the voting pattern of the United States is reversed. In the U.S., the more rich and educated you are, the more likely you are to vote; in India it?s the opposite. "
"Created by Grey Advertising’s India division for the ruling Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP), “India Shining” was the tagline for a $100 million media campaign intended to emphasize the role the popular BJP had played in India’s economic upswing."
"And, lest brandmongers lose heart, Congress’s victory was achieved with the active assistance of their own consultants: a wholly owned local subsidiary of Leo Burnett, the agency best remembered for concocting, in simpler times, the Jolly Green Giant and the Marlboro Man."

Have you noticed that National Geographic Channel in India is getting a makeover. It seems to have more India-based programmes and India-based advertisements.
Ad-da found it interesting to note that it has started using Indian actors (in this Akshay Kumar) for drawing crowds to its programme on martial-arts. Akshay Kumar appears prominently in the advertisement for 'Seven Deadly Martial Arts' programme, but, appears in the programme only at the beginning for a few minutes.
The link/advertisement on the link says -- So as Akshay Kumar takes you through each of the Seven Deadly Arts, every aspect of conventional combat seems immature and ineffective. Their secrets are elements that seem common and mundane in the everyday rush for livelihood. Patience, perseverance, self-awareness and mental toughness are tested to the extremes, and the limits that were once accepted, vanish during the rigorous training.
Sounds pretty wrong because, if you have seen any of the episodes( I saw the episode on Aikido yesterday), Akshay Kumar is present only for the first few minutes and after that he totally disappears.

A spoof ad by Vanilla Coke on Bollywood 70's movies and also on Elvis Presley is doing good rounds. This ad seems to have caught the fancy of BoingBoing!
Ad-da is prejudiced against spoof. Hate most of the spoofs. The advertisement does nothing to enlighten me ( alright, Ads are not supposed to be enlightening, they supposed to be eye-catching ) about the product. I still donot know what is Vanilla Coke? Is it coke that has a vanilla flavour?
Inspite of Ad-da's prejudice, it gives the advertisement a thumbs up because it makes the author wonder about the drink. It makes the author think about venturing out and have a quick sip of Vanilla Coke.
